{ Lead Instructor }

Lead Instructors are college graduates and professional educators who are experienced in their subject matter and confident in leading groups of kids in 5th-8th graders in a traditional and non-traditional educational setting. It is possible that talented graduate students could be hired in this capacity. Lead Instructors will develop or refine their class’ curriculum, lead the class, and take overall ownership for child and parent satisfaction with their specific class. They must embrace a love of learning, should be passionate about their subject matter, and excited to share that passion with middle school kids. They should also flexible, patient, and ready to inspire a new generation of learners. Previous camp experience is a plus.
 

Lead Instructor Responsibilities
  • Develop a two week session of curriculum (25 hours) in topic area for appropriate grade levels
  • Manage supply list development and supply purchasing for class(es)
  • Deliver approximately six hours per day of instruction in specialty area
  • Make changes to curriculum during camp to improve or accommodate specific students
  • Collaborate with Assistant Instructors and help them become better instructors and educators through teamwork and supervision
  • Perform and manage set-up and clean-up of classrooms and participate in overall campus maintenance
  • Participate in student check-in and check-out with a high level of enthusiasm
  • Give casual feedback to parents regarding child’s experience
Additional Responsibilities
  • Weekly staff meetings, to occur from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm after camp on Thursdays
  • Participate in two or three days of training before camp starts
  • Train Assistant Instructors in your curriculum area
  • Set up for one short day on the weekend before camp starts
  • Pack up class supplies on the last day of class
  • Complete mid-camp and end-of-summer evaluations
  • Turn in revised curriculum at end of camp

Typical weekly hours (camp is in session from 8:45am to 3:30pm):
  • Monday: 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
  • Thursday: 8:15 am - 5:30 pm
  • Friday: 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

Compensation
Instructors will be paid between $700 and $800 per week of camp, based on experience level and class topic, a $100 - $300 curriculum stipend, and a $25 - $300 supply purchasing stipend. Payroll is processed twice each month.
