Program Interns are typically upper-level high school students who have a strong interest in education and a desire to impact middle school kids. You must combine a love for kids with patience, energy, and a positive attitude. You should also be a fun, passionate and motivated team player. Experience leading groups of kids entering 5th-8th grade is extremely helpful. Previous camp experience is a plus. Galileo Summer Quest Program Interns work for 4-6 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Instructor Team with set up, instruction, and clean up in classrooms
- Guide and motivate kids through in-depth interactive Majors such as Go-Kart Racers, Artist’s Studio, Magazine Makers, etc.
- Participate in student check-in/check-out with high level of enthusiasm
- Assist Program Director with administrative duties
- Supervise lunch and help in Leadership Crews and Club activities
- Provide support to Program Director, Instructor Teams, and other Program Interns
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend weekly staff meetings, to occur from 4:30pm to 5:30pm after camp on Thursdays
- Participate in two days of training before program begins
- Help pack up at the end of the summer
- Complete mid-summer and end-of-summer evaluations
Work hours (camp is in session from 9:00am to 4:00pm):
- Monday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
- Tuesday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
- Wednesday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
- Thursday: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
