{ Crew Leader }

Crew Leaders deliver high quality team-building and leadership curriculum to Galileo Summer Quest students. Crew Leaders generate enthusiasm and inspire students while leading them to develop teamwork, leadership, patience, and cooperation – all qualities integral to a child’s ability to work with others.

If you are energetic, passionate about leadership development and enjoy working with kids in a fast paced and fun environment, Galileo Summer Quest is a perfect match for you! As a Crew Leader, you will further develop your skills as an educator while developing leadership skills in groups of up to 10 students and creating an unforgettable summer experience. Instructional experience leading kids, particularly in outdoor games and team building activities is preferred. Previous camp experience is a plus.

You will also have the opportunity to supervise students in “Club” time—where they choose an activity to participate in such as outdoor games, arts and crafts or table games such as foosball or ping pong. You will help them foster relationship with their peers while engaging in social activities.
 

Crew Leader Responsibilities
  • Deliver 2.5 hours of leadership curriculum per day (curriculum provided)
  • Prepare materials for Crew time each day
  • Make changes to curriculum during camp to improve or accommodate specific students
  • Supervise students during Clubs
  • Contribute to and participate in All Student Activities, lunch supervision, and student check-in and check-out processes
  • Collaborate and cooperate with fellow staff members to provide an unforgettable summer experience for students
  • Assist with daily set up and clean up before and after camp
  • Attend weekly staff meetings on Thursdays, 4:30pm-5:30pm
  • Attend one weekend of mandatory training
  • Participate in one day of set up on the weekend before program starts
  • Participate in one day of clean up the day after program ends
  • Complete mid and end of summer evaluations
Qualifications/Requirements
  • College graduate
  • Experience with middle school kids
  • Ability to work on a team, energetic and open to learning
  • Previous camp experience is a plus!

Typical weekly hours (camp is in session from 8:45am to 3:30pm):
  • Monday: 7:45 am - 4:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
  • Thursday: 8:15 am - 5:30 pm
  • Friday: 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

Compensation
Crew Leaders will be paid $400 - $475 per week of program. Payroll is processed twice each month.
