Assistant Instructors are typically college students or recent graduates who have the unique ability to motivate kids and inspire creativity in middle school students. They must combine a love for innovation and learning with patience, energy, and a positive attitude. They should also be team players, excited to work in a fun and fast paced environment. Experience leading groups of kids entering 5th-8th grade is extremely helpful. Previous camp experience is a plus.
Assistant Instructor Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Lead Instructor and help with class set-up, instruction, and clean-up in classrooms
- Guide and motivate kids through a variety of classes and activities
- Keep kids excited and inspired
- Participate in camper check-in and check-out with a high level of enthusiasm
- Lead students to classes and through the museum during class breaks
- Lead All Student Activities and supervise students during lunch
- Volunteer to lead at least two weeks of am/pm extended care
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend weekly staff meetings, to occur 4:30 - 5:30 pm after camp on Thursdays
- Participate in two days of training before program begins
- Set up for one short day on the weekend before program starts
- Help pack up program at the end of the summer
- Complete mid-program and end-of-summer evaluations
Typical weekly hours (camp is in session from 8:45am to 3:30pm):
- Monday: 7:45 am - 4:00 pm
- Tuesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
- Wednesday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
- Thursday: 8:15 am - 5:30 pm
- Friday: 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
Compensation
Assistant Instructors will be paid $400 - $475 per week of program. Payroll is processed twice each month. |
