{ Camp Galileo Lead Instructor: Kindergarten }


As a Kindergarten Lead Instructor, you will work with our youngest campers (entering kindergarten) and will be responsible for delivering one or more segments of our art, science, and outdoor curriculum. Kindergarten instructors lead groups of up to 16 campers and are involved in all aspects of camp with those children. We are looking for college graduates who have experience in working with pre-school or kindergarten-aged children. You will provide consistency to your group while encouraging them to explore the special curriculum that has been developed for our kindergarten campers. If you are passionate about art, science or outdoors, enjoy working with kids in a unique and dynamic environment, and have a fun and energetic attitude, then Camp Galileo is for you. Previous camp experience is a plus!
 
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver 2.25 hours of instruction per day in art or science, plus lead your kindergarten campers in outdoor games and other age-appropriate activities.
  • Prepare materials for classes each day before and after camp
  • Make changes to curriculum to improve the program or accommodate specific campers
  • Supervise and assist Team Leaders while they are working in your program area; inspire them become better instructors
  • Contribute to and participate in daily opening and closing ceremonies, all-camp activities, snack and lunch supervision, and camper check-in and check-out processes
  • Collaborate and cooperate with fellow staff members to provide an unforgettable camp experience for your campers – and yourself!
  • Assist with daily set up and clean up before and after camp
  • Attend weekly staff meetings on Thursdays, 3pm-5pm
  • Attend one weekend of mandatory training (June 7-8)
  • Participate in one day of set up on the weekend before camp starts
  • Participate in one day of clean up the day after camp ends
  • Complete mid and end of camp staff surveys
Qualifications/Requirements
  • College graduate
  • Experience working with pre-school or kindergarten-aged children. Experience with other grade levels will be considered.
  • Ability to work on a team, energetic, flexible and open to learning
  • Previous camp experience is a plus!

Work Hours (camp is in session 9am - 3pm)

Estimated work hours amount to 41-45 hrs per week.  A typical day is 8am-4:30pm, except Thursday is 8am-5:00pm for staff meetings.  These hours are estimates and may vary on a daily and weekly basis. Extended Care Program hours are optional.

Compensation

Instructors will be paid between $475 and $625 per week of camp (5, 6, 7, or 8 weeks depending on location) based on experience and level of education. Payroll is processed every two weeks.
