Camp Galileo is hiring Assistant Camp Directors to help the Camp Director and manage and provide overall leadership for its programs. This person will manage staff, monitor instruction, and lead many camp activities. As the Assistant Camp Director, you will also have some administrative and programming responsibilities which could vary on a weekly basis.

You will spend your summer building a program that will have a positive lasting impact on kids, while enhancing your own professional development, networking with other staff, and becoming part of the Galileo network for future opportunities. Responsibilities
You will work under the supervision of the Camp Director to perform the following responsibilities:
Pre-Camp
- Attend Camp Director training on May 17th-18th (this is an overnight)
- Attend and help lead staff training June 7th-8th
- Work with the Camp Director 2-4 days the week before camp begins for ongoing training and camp set up
During Camp work with your Camp Director to:
- Run daily operations of camp, creating a high energy experience for campers and staff alike
- Improve program on the fly and share improvements with the Camp Director
- Lead and manage staff members (Team Leaders), ensuring quality instruction, high energy, and overall professional performance
- Prepare, manage, and maintain weekly camp management tools
- Communicate daily with parents
- Help resolve camper situations: behavioral, medical and emotional
- Communicate daily with Camp Director
- Ensure facility is well maintained and left in excellent condition
You will also
- Participate in one day of set up before camps starts
- Participate in one day of clean up the day after camp ends
- Time commitment is approximately 50 hours per week
- Complete a survey regarding the program and provide feedback based on your experience
- Camp Dates (varies based on site)
Qualifications/Requirements
- College graduate
- True passion for working with kids in a camp environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Staff management and camp experience a plus
- Computer savvy; proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Likely employed full-time during the school year, with summers available
- Flexible, trustworthy, and positive; a person who works well in teams, can multi-task, take personal initiative, is responsible, energetic, organized, detail-oriented, and a good problem-solver and communicator
- Certified in Adult & Child First Aid & CPR (or willing to be certified)
Compensation
The Assistant Camp Director will be paid $750 per week of camp. Days worked before camp (not including training, set up and clean up) will be prorated based on your weekly salary. Assistant Camp Directors will receive a $100 stipend for attending the Camp Director training in May. In addition, a $100 stipend will be paid for the successful completion of all staff training, set up, and clean up procedures. Payroll is processed every two weeks. Galileo Educational Services is an at-will employer.
